Phil joins Last in Line
Phil has been asked to join Last in Line for a handful of spring dates after the sad passing of Jimmy Bain. Last in Line were formed with a desire to reunite the original creative persons responsible for the trilogy of the first three DIo albums, namely Vivian Campbell, Vinny Appice and Jimmy Bain joined with rock singer Andrew Freeman. Sadly during one of their first appearances Jimmy passed away.
It was unclear what the future of the band would be, but as a tribute they agreed to finish out these shows and allow that decision to make itself. Phil having been a friend not only of Vinny and Andrew, with whom he has worked extensively, but also of Jimmy's was asked to come down and have a play to see how things would sound. After the first plays it was eveident that there was a continuing chemistry and after the intial shows everyone was very pleased. This together with the fact that the original album "Heavy Crown" started flying up the charts under its own merit is making the band realize that there is a future beyond the tribute aspect.
Phil feels that this is a bittersweet opportunity. On the one had there is sadness at the passing of Jimmy, who was not able to take this album in which he had so much participation to that fans. On the other the excitement of a band whose music and showas are being so well received.
